Split the trip,
not the friendship.

Chikoo’s trip expense splitter tracks every participant, every expense and whoever paid it — then settles the whole group with the fewest transfers, before you fly home.

How it works

How Chikoo handles a group trip.

A trip is a dozen expenses, several payers and one shared bill. Chikoo keeps them separate until the moment they need to be one.

One group per trip

Create a group for the trip and add everyone going. The trip gets its own ledger, so it never tangles with your flat's rent or last month's dinner tab.

Multiple payers

Flights paid by one person, the hotel by another, dinner by a third. Log each expense with whoever actually paid; Chikoo nets out the whole web of who paid what.

Home and abroad currencies

Expenses in rupees at home, dollars or euros abroad — one group holds them all. Balances stay exact in the currency entered; converted totals are labelled as approximate.

Receipts, scanned

Photograph a receipt and Chikoo suggests the amount, merchant and date. You check the figures before anything is saved — a head start, not a leap of faith.

Then it settles up with the fewest transfers. Instead of everyone paying their share back to whoever paid, Chikoo simplifies the debts — a four-person trip with three payers becomes a handful of transfers, not a dozen.

Beyond the calculator

The calculator is the trip, in miniature.

A trip split once is a trip split. Chikoo keeps the ledger going — across days, currencies and past trips.

  • Split each expense equally, by exact amounts, by percentage or unevenly
  • Add travel partners by phone number before they've even signed up
  • Record settlements in cash or UPI and watch balances go to zero
  • Keep every past trip as its own group, ready to audit when you're home
  • Free, with no ads and no paid tier
Questions

Before you book.

The things worth knowing up front — including what Chikoo deliberately doesn’t do.

Is the Chikoo trip expense splitter free?

Yes. Chikoo is free with no ads, no premium tier and no in-app purchases. The trip calculator on this page and the full app cost the same: nothing.

How do I split a trip with more than two people paying?

Add every participant to the trip group, then log each expense with whoever actually paid — flights by one person, the hotel by another, dinner by a third. Chikoo nets out all of it and tells you the fewest transfers that settle everyone.

Can I split a trip in a foreign currency?

Yes. A trip group can hold expenses in several currencies at once — rupees at home, dollars or euros abroad. Balances stay exact in the currency they were entered in, and totals are converted to your preferred currency for display, with anything converted labelled as approximate.

Do my travel partners need the app to join the trip group?

No. Add them by phone number or from your contacts, whether or not they're on Chikoo yet, and start splitting immediately. When they do sign up with that number, the whole trip's history is already waiting for them.

Does Chikoo hold or move my money?

No. Chikoo is a record-keeping tool — it tracks who paid what and works out who owes whom. It is not a payment service and never holds or transfers funds. Marking something settled records that a payment happened; it doesn't make one happen.
